Clinic of Dermatology

The Department of Dermatology at the Military Medical Academy is equipped with modern facilities of European and world level. It uses all new methods and resources for the diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases and also deals with problems in the field of esthetic medicine. Examinations and treatment are held in the clinic and consultative offices of the hospital.

There are several sectors and activities in the clinic:

Therapeutic sector – with 30 available beds. The rooms are cosy, with two beds, bathroom, air conditioner and TV. There are also VIP rooms and intensive care unit. The clinic has a contract with The National Health Insurance Fund and serves the military contingent as well as the citizens from the whole country.

Consultative activity: discussions are held to specify the diagnosis and treatment of complicated multidisciplinary cases

Balneophototherapy – the procedures conducted in this sector expand therapeutic potential and improve the quality of life of patients suffering from socially significant skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, skin lymphomas etc.

Histopathology – histological and immunohistochemical examinations of skin biopsy specimens are done in order to clarify the diagnosis of skin diseases, benign and malignant formations. The clinic is specialized in the field of dermatohistopathology. Consults of histological specimens from other clinics in the country are performed and it is possible to make on-line consults with leading clinics in Europe.

Dermatosurgery – the clinic is supplied with a modern operating room where benign and malignant skin formations are removed from a highly qualified team of specialists.

Laser therapy – solves cosmetic problems in the field of esthetic medicine, benign skin formations are removed by IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), and ablative lasers – CO2 and Erbium:YAG lasers.

Cosmetics –cosmetic procedures like chemical peels, fillers, botuline toxin and other anti-aging procedures are performed by a team of higly-trained and sertificated physicians;

Mycology – microscopic and culture examination of fugal infections of skin and skin related structures.

Venereology – provides accurate and early diagnosis, therapy and follow-up of Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Allergology – examinations, consults and allergy testing of patients with allergic diseases

Educational activity – The clinic offers postgraduate education to residents and courses for physicians across the country,
