Dermatologic surgery – Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a method of freezing the skin surface with liquid nitrogen for a few seconds using special instruments. The formation of a blister can be expected after the procedure, that can be treated with antiseptic medications and heals in about 7-10 days with a tiny or no scar.

Dermatologic diseases managed successfully with cryotherapy are:

  • Warts;
  • Hemangioma;
  • Genital warts;
  • Labial herpes;
  • Solar keratoses;
  • Basal cell carcinoma;
  • Keratoacanthoma;
  • Dilated capillaries on the face in rosecea;
  • Seborrheic warts, etc.

What are the advantages?

Cryotherapy is an effective and fairly cheap method of treatment leading to good cosmetic results. The method does not require admission to the hospital and is not linked to any of the side effects that go with other forms of surgical treatment.
